    The Tarot

Tarot readings are arrangements of cards drawn from a shuffled deck. The layout of the cards is known as a spread, and determines what each card refers to. For example, the Two Paths spread is used to understand an upcoming decision, and hence it uses cards to represent the different options and their outcomes.

Decks: Tarot decks consist of 78 cards. 22 of the cards are major arcana (trumps), such as The Lovers, The Fool, The Pope, and The World. The remaining 56 cards are minor arcana divided into 4 suites of 14 cards each. The suites are Swords, Cups, Wands (sometimes called Rods or Staves), and Pentacles (sometimes called Coins or Discs). Although the traditional meanings of the cards are the same regardless of the specific deck used, the imagery and language associated with each deck tends to make it particularly useful for some types of readings. For example, many of our visitors find the Renaissance Tarot particularly good at questions of passion, mastery, and reason.

Reversals: About half of the cards in a reading are drawn reversed (upside down), which either negates or inverts their meaning. For example, Death upright means "change", but Death reversed means "stagnation".

    The history of the Tarot

The oldest group of surviving Tarot cards, called Tarocchi in Italian, appears to date from 1420 to 1450. Although the oldest cards that we have are hand-painted ones, many scholars believe that printed or wood block cards predate the hand-painted ones. However, as most early printed cards were much-used and of poor quality, the earliest printed cards date from later than the hand-painted ones by twenty to fifty years so that there is no physical evidence to show which type of cards were the first to be created. By about 1500, Tarot decks had become fairly standardized although there were individual differences from deck to deck even as there are today.

For the last 4 years, I have been practicing and learning how to use the tarot cards, I believe that by using the tarot correctly, they can give you a small insight of your past preasent and your future, but as always, the time frame for future events can naver be explained because in the spirit world, there is no such word as time and it doesnt exist.

I always think that when times are hard for someone, something or someone always comes to your call for help, we are never alone and I dont just mean alone from people, we all have company around us both living and dead and there is always someone there to help you and give you hope, even if its in a little way. When I broke away from my first love after 2 1/2 year, I was devistated and heart broken that our love had grown apart. I became depressed and would cry everyday and night for months. Fortunately my Mum had just got into Tarot cards and as silly as it sounds, the tarot cards realy did give me hope and a new perception of life. I remember buying my first deck and dealing the cards myself, it was good to be able to read up on events that had hapened and events that had yet to happen - and believe me, they told the truth everytime.

I now have 3 decks of tarot cards, see here. They are all different in there own way and I love learning and studying them.
